Metropolitan trains
Melbourne's train network, operated by Connex Melbourne, services the inner, middle and outer suburbs. All lines run to and from the city.
Metropolitan trams
The tram network in Melbourne, operated by Yarra Trams, is the world's third largest, with high-frequency services across the inner suburbs. Most routes travel to and from the city, however there are some services that travel across the inner eastern, inner north-western and inner southern suburbs.
Metropolitan buses
A huge number of bus routes operate across all suburbs in Melbourne's metropolitan area. The routes often operate in places with little or no local train or tram service, as well as connecting suburbs not linked by trains or trams. Many bus routes also service railway stations.
School bus services also operate right across Melbourne. They only run on school days and most services do not carry the general public. Metlink does not carry school bus timetable information. Please contact the relevant bus operator or your school for school bus timetable information.
Free tram service, City Circle
City Circle trams run travel the perimeter of Melbourne's central business district, taking in many of Melbourne's landmarks every day of the year except Christmas Day and Good Friday. Services operate every 12 minutes between 10am and 9pm from Thursday to Saturday, and between 10am and 6pm from Sunday to Wednesday.
NightRider
NightRider is a bus service that provides a safe, easy and inexpensive way to travel after midnight on weekends. All you need is a valid Metcard to jump on board. Buses run every 30 minutes between 1.30am and 4.30am on Saturday mornings and 1.30am to 5.30am on Sunday mornings. There are additional buses on selected routes and special services may operate for major events such as New Year's Eve.
Please note, individual route maps will be available in the near future. Check back soon for updates.
V/Line services

Passengers can connect with coach services at many points along each of these lines to get to even more destinations across Victoria.
