Train timetable changes: from Sunday, 27 April 2008
April service changes
105 new weekly services will be introduced from Sunday, 27 April with a focus on PM peak times and high demand areas.
More room will be available for passengers by running six-carriage trains up until at least 7pm on all lines (except the Williamstown and Alamein shuttles which will still operate in three car configuration between the peaks and after about 6pm).
The April service changes are included in Metlink’s Journey Planner. Use the Journey Planner to plan your trip for 27 April 2008 onwards and you will receive a journey plan incorporating the April changes.

The Stony Point line will receive five new daily services on Monday to Thursday, with seven new services on Friday, two on Saturday, and one additional on Sunday. And all travel times will be cut by four minutes – except on the 7.07am weekday service to Stony Point.
Replacement of the A class locomotive hauled trains with newer Sprinter trains. The train remains branded as V/Line but will be operated by Connex.
November service changes
By simplifying the way trains move around the network, 95 more services will be introduced.
Epping and Hurstbridge lines
All trains on the Epping and Hurstbridge lines will travel one direction – clockwise (Flinders Street, Southern Cross, Flagstaff, Melbourne Central and Parliament) – all day around the loop, instead of changing direction from morning to afternoon.
One-way City Loop running will reduce congestion between the city and Jolimont Station and allow for an additional morning peak train on the Epping and Hurstbridge lines.
Werribee line
Werribee peak services will travel direct to Flinders Street via Southern Cross allowing for two extra morning peak services on both the Werribee and Sydenham lines.
Werribee passengers wanting to travel through the City Loop can change trains at Southern Cross or at North Melbourne.
Pakenham and Cranbourne lines
More frequent evening trains are scheduled for the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines.
