New Customer Information Centre opens at Flinders Street Station

Date Published: Friday, 05 September 2008

A new Customer Information Centre is now open on the concourse at Flinders Street Station.

Over 100,000 people use Flinders Street Station each day, and with trains running from before 6am until after 1am, it is always a hub of activity for commuters.

Staff at the information centre will assist customers with train travel and service information including platform information, updates on service changes, and zone and ticket information.

It will be open from 7am–7.30pm, seven days a week.

The Customer Information Centre provides a ‘human face’ and a personal level of service by meeting, greeting, welcoming and assisting customers passing through the concourse.

Staff at the centre are here to assist train users.

A unique feature of the new Customer Information Centre is that it is powered by 100 per cent renewable energy.

Native grasses grow on the centre’s vertical garden.

Built using environmentally-sustainable and fully-recyclable building materials, two of the centre’s walls are made of living, growing plants and all lights are low-energy or fluorescent fittings.

The Customer Information Centre is just one of a host of initiatives introduced and funded by Connex as part of the We Hear You program.
