Metropolitan zones
Metropolitan Melbourne’s public transport network is divided into two main zones. The cost of a journey depends on which zones are being travelled in.
Metcards are available for travel in each of the individual zones, and two-zone combinations.
Check what zones you are planning to visit and make sure you have a ticket that covers your entire journey. For example, travelling to Belgrave Station (Zone 2) from the city (Zone 1) will require a Zone 1+2 Metcard.

Please note: tickets need to be valid for each zone travelled in; however, when travelling in a zone boundary overlap, the ticket can be valid for either zone.
Additionally, for single trips within the city centre customers can purchase a City Saver Metcard.
