Accessible buses
Over half of Melbourne’s bus services are wheelchair-accessible, including SkyBus and NightRider buses.
At the stop, the bus driver places a ramp between the front door of the bus to the kerb of the road.
Some bus routes are fully wheelchair-accessible and others are partly wheelchair-accessible.
Check your printed timetable - accessible services are shown with an access symbol on the front of the timetable booklet or next to the relevant service. They can be indicated by the letter ‘W’ (wheelchair) or ‘LF’ (low-floor).
On website timetables, accessible services are indicted by the access symbol above the time of the service.
Before you travel, it’s a good idea to contact the relevant bus operator to check if the service will be wheelchair-accessible. See useful phone numbers.

Accessible bus stops |
Many of Melbourne's bus stops are compatible with the ramps of wheelchair accessible buses.
If you are not sure if a bus stop is wheelchair-accessible please contact the operator for information. See useful phone numbers.

SmartBus |
Low-floor buses run on SmartBus routes. These buses ‘meet’ the bus stop at the same level so you don’t ‘step’ onto the bus.
SmartBus stops have tactile ground surfaces in bright colours that are used to to help people with vision impairments.
For SmartBus route and timetable information, see SmartBus.
