Charity partner: Whitelion
Metlink makes a positive difference to the lives of Victoria’s at risk young people through our major charity partnership with Whitelion.
Whitelion opens doors for young people in the community who are involved in the youth justice system or in need of support and guidance.
Through mentoring, employment and indigenous programs, outreach services and prevention programs, young people are encouraged to build relationships with their communities.
Metlink helps young people build positive relationships and helps public transport operators meet the needs of young people.
“Through our sponsorship we aim to involve more young people in constructive projects with public transport operators that will help engender a sense of pride in their community and give them opportunities they may not be exposed to without Whitelion’s support.”
- Bernie Carolan, Metlink CEO

Bail Out
Whitelion held its biggest annual fundraising event, Bail Out, at the Old Melbourne Gaol on Friday, 30 May 2008.
Over 120 fundraisers, also known as ‘inmates’, stepped behind bars and took on the challenge of raising their own bail targets.
Whitelion raised a staggering $360,000 with help from Metlink’s determined and enthusiastic representative, Craig Young, who managed to secure $12,200 for our major charity partner.

Murals created at Burnley Station (above), Royal Park Station, St Kilda Junction and South Melbourne Market, organised by Metlink and Whitelion, have been a huge success with local communities. |
